This Week's Meditation Verse: John 3:30-31
He must increase, but I must decrease. He who comes from above is above all. He who is of the earth belongs to the earth and speaks in an earthly way. He who comes from heaven is above all.

The Wonders of His Word - Sermon Questions
"Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of Your law." (Psalm 119:18)
Every week will we post discussion questions regarding the previous Sunday's sermon. These questions can be used to lead a small group, for discussion among couples and friends, or for personal enrichment.
Our heart is that you would meditate and apply God's Word to your life (Ps. 119:11), for His glory and your joy.
Sermon Questions - "Born from Above" (August 29)
John 3:1-21
1. The beginning of John 3 connects with John 2:22-25. According to these passages, what is Jesus’ view of humanity? How does this compare with Jeremiah 17:9?
2. In verse 5 Jesus talks about being born of the water and the Spirit. What does this mean? See also Ezekiel 36:25-27 and Titus 3:5-7.
3. Have you been born from above? Jesus tells us how this happens in John 3:16. Also see 2 Peter 1:10.
4. What is the difference between reforming the old nature and being born from above? See also Romans 13:14 and Galatians 5:16-18.
5. How are you walking after the Spirit?
6. How do you view serving Christ? Is it something you have to do to please God, or is it something you get to do because of what Christ has done for you?
7. Who are you sharing this new life with?

Sermon Questions - "Cleansing the Temple" (August 22)
John 2:13-25
1) Why was Jesus angry? What Old Testament principle was in effect for Jesus' cleansing of the temple? See Isaiah 56:6-8
2) How does the image of Jesus' anger contradict our 21st Century conception of Him?
3) How does this depict Jesus as the restorer of true worship?
4) Our meditation verse is John 2:19-20; what temple is Jesus speaking of here?
5) According to 1 Cor. 3:16, 1 Cor. 6:19-20, and 2 Cor. 6:16, what is the temple of the New Testament?
6)Is your religion comfortable and convenient? How does Jesus want to disrupt your life?
7) Anything that you love more than Jesus Christ is an idol. What idols need to be cleansed from your life? In what way has your heart become a swap meet? (Note: Whatever takes your time, whatever occupies your thinking, whatever you are most passionate about -- that is your god.)
A word of encouragement: God loves you too much to let you have your own way.
