John 3:1-21
1. The beginning of John 3 connects with John 2:22-25. According to these passages, what is Jesus’ view of humanity? How does this compare with Jeremiah 17:9?
2. In verse 5 Jesus talks about being born of the water and the Spirit. What does this mean? See also Ezekiel 36:25-27 and Titus 3:5-7.
3. Have you been born from above? Jesus tells us how this happens in John 3:16. Also see 2 Peter 1:10.
4. What is the difference between reforming the old nature and being born from above? See also Romans 13:14 and Galatians 5:16-18.
5. How are you walking after the Spirit?
6. How do you view serving Christ? Is it something you have to do to please God, or is it something you get to do because of what Christ has done for you?
7. Who are you sharing this new life with?

Sermon Questions - "Cleansing the Temple" (August 22)
John 2:13-25
1) Why was Jesus angry? What Old Testament principle was in effect for Jesus' cleansing of the temple? See Isaiah 56:6-8
2) How does the image of Jesus' anger contradict our 21st Century conception of Him?
3) How does this depict Jesus as the restorer of true worship?
4) Our meditation verse is John 2:19-20; what temple is Jesus speaking of here?
5) According to 1 Cor. 3:16, 1 Cor. 6:19-20, and 2 Cor. 6:16, what is the temple of the New Testament?
6)Is your religion comfortable and convenient? How does Jesus want to disrupt your life?
7) Anything that you love more than Jesus Christ is an idol. What idols need to be cleansed from your life? In what way has your heart become a swap meet? (Note: Whatever takes your time, whatever occupies your thinking, whatever you are most passionate about -- that is your god.)
A word of encouragement: God loves you too much to let you have your own way.

1) How have you seen the miraculous in your life? Where do you feel God is wanting to do the miraculous in your life?
2) In Jesus' day, the groom was responsible for all wedding provision and preparation. How does this apply to Jesus as our Bridegroom?
3) How does Mary's example of going to Jesus (2:1-4) apply to us?
4) Where do you go with your problems? In other words, who or what is your functional savior?
5) In verse 5, Mary says, "Do whatever he tells you." What is God telling you to do?
6) What results from the servants' obedience to Mary's command to do all that Jesus says?
